A wound heals well when it is cleaned, protected and checked regularly. This care is for people recovering from surgery, living with an ulcer or a chronic wound, or dealing with a minor burn or cut that needs more than a home bandage. It spares you repeated trips to the clinic, which are hard when getting around is difficult.

At each visit your nurse removes the old dressing, assesses the wound, cleans it following clinical protocols and applies the right dressing, using sterile supplies she brings with her. She watches for signs of infection, records how healing is progressing from one visit to the next, and explains what to look out for in between. If the wound is not healing as expected, she refers you to your doctor.
